IMMUNITY
ability of the body to fight infection by producing antibodies or killing the infected cell
IMMUNE RESPOND
protective reaction which keep the body in stable state
IMMUNE SYSTEM
system that responsible in maintaining homeostasis by recognizing harmful organism and produce suitable respond
Two types of immune responds:
i. nonspecific - fight any types of antigen ( 1st line n 2nd line body defense)
ii. specific - fight particular invader (3rd line body defence)
NONSPECIFIC
4 types:
i. barriers to entry - skin,mucus,tears,sweat
ii. phagocytic (leukocytes) and natural killer cell
iii. inflammatory reaction - caused by histamine, prostaglandin, chemokines
iv. antimicrobial protein - lysozyme, complementary system, interferone
SPECIFIC
relate to lymphatic system
Primary lymphatic organ
- place where lymphocytes produced
Secondary lymphatic organ
- place where lymphocytes bind to antigen (bacteria, virus that cause harm to organism)
The two basic types of leukocytes are:
- phagocytes, cells that chew up invading organisms
- lymphocytes, cells that allow the body to remember and recognize previous invaders and help the body destroy them
Types of lymphocytes:
i. T cell
ii. B cell
when antigen interact with lymphocytes, lymphocytes will actived and differentiate into:
i. memory cell
ii. effector cell
